What Tier 2 Semi-Custom Formulation Means
Tier 2 is where your product becomes yours.
You start with our proven base formulas, then we tailor the details that make the product feel truly “yours” fragrance, color, texture, slip, finish, + select performance upgrades, while keeping development faster + more cost-effective than a fully custom build.
This tier is designed for brands that want to stand out with intentional upgrades + signature sensorial quality, without the timeline + risk of full R&D.
MOQ: 45 gallons (5,760 oz) = 600 x 8 oz bottles
Pricing: $4.95 – $6.95 per 8 oz bottle (varies by product)
One Time Fragrance Fee: $500
We stock it for you for future runs.
One Time Colorant Fee: $250

Tier 2 is semi-custom. We start with a proven ACB base formula, then customize key details like fragrance, appearance, texture/viscosity, slip/finish, and select performance upgrades so it feels unique to your brand without starting from scratch.
Tier 2 is built on our base formulas, so the formula framework remains ACB’s. Your customized selections (fragrance direction, aesthetic, and approved upgrades) are unique to your project, but Tier 2 is not a full formula ownership/exclusivity tier. If you need full ownership or exclusivity, Tier 3 is the right fit.
Most Tier 2 projects include: fragrance, color (where applicable), viscosity/texture, sensorial feel (slip, finish, weight), and select performance-focused upgrades aligned to your goals. Customization options vary by product category and base formula.
Sometimes if the ingredient is compatible with the formula system, safe at effective levels, and fits your product goals. We’ll guide you toward high-ROI upgrades that actually improve performance and stability, not “ingredient overload.” Extra fees apply.
Tier 2 includes guided customization and refinement to land the final direction. The exact number of iterations depends on the product type and how far the customization goes. If your project requires extensive redevelopment, we may recommend moving to Tier 3.
Tier 2 typically starts at 45 gallons per SKU (bottle equivalents depend on size). Your MOQ and pricing depend on the product category.
You’ll provide: your brand direction, what products you want, your fragrance preferences, your target customer/hair type, and (when ready) your label artwork + packaging selections. If you’re not sure yet, start with samples then we’ll map the plan.
